Taiwan 09-19-2011

Before sunrise, I sit on the porch and barely saw the turtle island from the porch.  When the sun came out, the turtle island disappeared.

Breakfast with the owner of the guest house was a treat.  She was so generous.  She made tea, boiled eggs, sweet potato, guava, etc.

Fushan Botanical Garden was our main stop today. The botanical garden, open only to limited number of places per day visit the park, the park is closed 1 month every year, make the park a respite.

Fushan Botanical Garden has a rich plant and animal resources.  In Fushan Botanical Garden we should be able to enjoy the beauty of native plants a chance to see some wild life.

We saw many different kinds of young and interesting plants.  For the wild animals, they were so so so shy.  We were very lucky, because we had a glance of  a rare animal called Muntiacus reevesi (山羌). Wow!!  Nice!  He was too fast for us to take a picture!

After the garden, we were heading to our next stop by passing through Hsueh Shan Tunnel (雪山隧道). National Highway No.5  is a major public construction in recent years.  Hsueh Shan Tunnel is part of National Highway No. 5 located between Pinglin (坪林) and toucheng (頭城), the tunnel total length  is 12.9 km.  Hsueh Shan Tunnel  is the longest highway tunnel in Taiwan, Asia's second-longest road tunnel, the world's fifth longest tunnel.
