Due to we were too late to purchase the bus tickets from Sun Moon Lake to Alishan, we have to take different transportations to Alishan. First, we took a 1 1/2 hours bus ride from Sun Moon Lake to Taichun (臺中). From Taichun, we took high speed train to Chiayi (嘉義). Finally, we took another 2 1/2 hours bus ride from Chiayi to Alishan.
The Alishan National Scenic Area is a mountain resort and natural preserve located in the mountains of Chiayi County in Taiwan.
Alishan has mountain wilderness, waterfalls, forest railway, and hiking trails.
